In traditional Powerstroke fashion, last year it was the EGR cooler, this year it was the oil cooler. Next year, I dunno, but I’m praying those damned head studs stay put.
This weekend’s project:
I think I might post up a step-by-step on the replacement of the front shocks and the stabilizer, if anyone’s interested.

7.3 with the funky tubes-in-tube oil cooler setup on the side of the engine, dying O-rings and gasket?

Nope, 6.0 on this one. The oil cooler sits up front, nestled between the cylinder banks, covered by just enough of the intake manifold that it requires an assload of equipment to be removed before being able to remove the oil cooler.
I would have done it myself, but it was $300.00+ if I did it myself, versus $175.00 total if I had it done under warranty. Warranty won out, and I ended up footing only $175.00 of a $1K repair bill.

Congrats, Ford, sounds like you found a way for two completely different setups to fail similarly, and only made it more difficult over time. *tips hat*

They do strive to be the best....off to remove my intake manifold to change some spark plugs, be back next year.

Damn, I’d had the 7.3L pegged as bulletproof. What all did they do on your 7.3?

new shocks and front hubs were replaced again under warranty. warn sent bad ones the first time. just had ball joints done a few months ago too

Ball joints and hubs - that will be the next fun project. Glad to hear Warn backed up their warranty and followed through. How do you like the Warn hubs vs. OEM units?

warn turn much easier and they are full manual so dont have to worry about vacuum lines messing up. also lifetime warranty is nice

When it comes time for the hubs, that’s definitely the way I want to go then. I get a little concerned about an 11-year-old vacuum system...
